Response to NPR's Real-Life Interrogations

I really enjoyed listening to Douglas Starr talk about interrogation tactics and false confessions, before listening to this audio I believed that anxiety has nothing to do with someone's guilt. I agree with what he explained about some people being able to look at you straight in the eye and lie, and there can be some people that get nervous and have anxiety symptoms even if they are completely innocent. Anxiety should not be a reason to assume that someone is guilty, I think there should be more evidence, and proof of someone being guilty. I found the case from Nebraska of Nancy's death very interesting, however I was not surprised about the husbands reaction I think people's minds can believe anything you make yourself believe. I definitely think the peace model for interrogation sounds as the most successful method in achieving the correct answer regarding who is guilty of committing a false act.  The peace model as described by Starr, is a method of not using anxiety as a judgment about whether someone is guilty or not, but a method of a massive amount of questioning to the point where if the person is guilty they get caught in there own lies. This is because if the person is lying they can only tell a fake story for so long. The person eventually will forget the details and the truth will be brought upon them. 

Response to 96 Acres Article on "Incarceration with Radical Art".

My response to the article on 96 acres is due to the satisfaction I received why'll attending the 96 acres (Prison Neighborhood Arts Project). I really appreciate the work that Maria Gaspar does along with her team. I think its important to have the community in the west side of Chicago be involved in this project because they are impacted by it. When I attended the event, on September 12th, I was interviewed by 96 acres. The question that stood out to me was when they asked me, how do you feel about people living in a community with the largest prison in the country being next to there homes? I hesitated when answering because I don't know how that feels, but I pictured what it would be like, walking or driving passed cook county jail everyday. I realized that probably would make me feel like there's nothing out there for me, I would feel hopeless about my future. I think it's a negative impact living next to cook county jail.

Response to Cops Clip

I am responding to the video clip on the Cops show. The clip demonstrated the officer on camera responding to a call dealing with a suicidal woman. When he arrived at the scene, he approached the woman along with other back up police officers. The woman refused to coaperate with the officers and violently pointed a large knife at them. The scene resulted in the woman being tackled down and landing on top of the knife. I think the officers handled the situation correctly, I don't think it's right that she landed on the knife and I'm sure the officer that tackled her agrees. I think they just wanted to  avoid getting harmed and I would have handled the situation like wise.

Vice News Response

I agree with the video on Vice News "Do You Trust The Police" , the stereotype's on police being the enemy with certain cultures is common. The reason for this is because of the past situations that involved racial issues with civilians and the law enforcement. The People in The U.S that were interviewed fall into this category. I believe that although there are bad guys, there are good guys. Therefore, at the end of the day people need to remember that cops are human too. I don't believe that extra weapons or force is necessary at all times, however I do think that for certain occasions it is, because the police also need protection. other countries have different issues like Mexico. The Mexican men interviewed both didn't seem happy with the Mexican police, and that's due to the corruption in Mexico and drug wars.

Reflection on Chicago's gun violence

This article reflects on the shootings that took place in Chicago this past weekend. I read the Tribune weekly, and every weekend the shootings are no less than 10 per weekend. It's sad seeing how many people die every weekend over gun violence. I feel like people are becoming used to seeing these statistics every weekend, and it shouldn't be that way. Last month I read an article on the Tribune about the same topic, which talked about how September of this year, had more shootings than compared to any other September in the past. The article stated that there was 59 shootings in just three days, that is a problem and I think there should be more attention to this problem.

Notebook Ratings

This notebook is one I would probably use to take personal notes. Such as shopping lists, or ideas for a project. I think it is a stylish notebook and I would carry it around with my purse, it would give an outfit another accessory. However I don't find this notebook the best for an investigator.

I really like this notebook for a classroom, I think it looks organized. The colorful dividers are good for organization. I would rank this one at the top of the list for school, but it would come last for an investigator.

The final notebook is one I think would fit well for work, I could see an investigator using a notebook like this one because it has a pen holder, it is professional, and it has pockets for other important information that might need to be saved. I also think the style of the paper is a good format because it gives a small box on the right corner for perhaps a date, and other boxes for information that can be separated for better note taking.
